If you are considering to book with Studio B there are some questions that you may have for us, we are a colour driven salon and it’s what we do day in and day out. We aim to please every single client and produce the perfect colour every time.
Whilst this is our goal sometimes there are circumstances that prevent us from reaching your desired colour in one visit.
HOW LONG WILL MY COLOUR BOOKING BE?
Typically a booking is for three hours which includes enough time for a consultation, colour application, toning and styling. Our appointments times are extended as much of the colour work we do is creative and takes quite a long time to apply. Our stylists also find that having enough time to spend with you gives them time to do any additional work that may be needed in case you were unable to come in for a prior consultation. Please bare in mind that any major colour changes (dark-light or colour corrections) will usually need more time. In some instances you will be required for a whole day.
DO I NEED TO COME IN FOR A CONSULTATION PRIOR TO MY BOOKING?
We strongly advise that you come in for a visit first. This way we can assess hair condition, colour build up, time required for booking, and also give a firm quote. We do understand that many of our clients travel from a long distance and this isn’t possible. You can also privately message pictures to our facebook page of your hair now, colour history, condition and a few goal colours. This will give us a better understanding of what you are trying to achieve and we can then try and book for the correct allocated time. If we have not seen your hair in person, we can only give a price guide and will give you a firm quote prior to the commencement of any work on the day of your booking. Please bare in mind that if we have not seen your hair prior to your visit and we find that you will need a major colour correction first or your hair is too damaged we may need to rebook you and not perform any service on that day. Our stylists will only makeover your hair if they have enough time allocated and if your hair can handle any kind of chemical service. Sometimes pictures are deceiving and a 3 hour booking may need to end up a 6 hour booking. Our team has been instructed to not start a service that they cannot finish, rush or give you a result that you won’t be happy with. It will always end up in disappointment so rather than leave with unhappy hair we will rebook you for another time suitable to you.
WHO WILL BE COLOURING MY HAIR?
We only ever have fully qualified senior stylists apply colour. All our seniors have been trained in the same techniques and all have a minimum of 6years+ as a senior professional. We do work in teams of two. You will be attended to by a colourist, and a stylist during your visit as everyone has been trained in their field to give you the best hair possible.
WHAT IS COLOUR BUILD UP AND HOW DOES IT EFFECT THE DESIRED HAIR THAT I AM TRYING TO ACHIEVE DURING MY FIRST VISIT?
Colour build up is any type of colour that has been put in your hair at any stage. Unless the hair is 100% grown out, you will most likely have old colour left which affects the type of result that you would like to achieve now. In some instances we have found overlapping, banding, patchiness and colour near impossible to remove. Quite often we get asked from clients how they can achieve blonde? Once you have colour build up it can take a long time to remove especially from dark tones. Usually you will see red, copper, orange, brass and then blonde. In some instances it can take a year to completely achieve your goal colour, it all depends on how easily it is removed. We will usually know after the first colour correction session a basic timeline for you. Please note- anyone with dark or vivid colours will need to book for a colour correction service before we can do a regular colour makeover. This is effectively two bookings and we will need you for at least 5 hours.
I WANT TO BE BLONDE, CAN YOU GET ME TO A BRIGHT BLONDE IN ONE SESSION?
Unless you are a hair stylist it can be hard to understand why you are unable to achieve blonde in some instances right away. First of all genetics plays a huge part. Every single person has a natural underlying pigment which is exposed with any form of lightening. For anyone with dark hair the most common pigment is red. Occasionally you will find someone brunette that can go blonde so easily and you may find they have ancestors that were from a country like Sweden. Also any hair that has colour build up will find that unless it lifts easily you won’t be able to achieve blonde in one session. If you have stubborn hair that struggles to lift well, it means you will have a long road ahead. You will have many “in between” colours of red, orange, copper, yellow and then possibly blonde. We have no idea how your hair will lift until you have had your first session, its a guessing game. We use Olaplex to help keep the hair bonded during each session, plus using common sense which is only lightening to what the hair can tolerate. We get asked all the time- why can’t we just lighten to blonde all in one day, if we did that you would be off to a wig store because you wouldn’t have any hair left. Have faith in your stylist and their recommendations, we want you as a client for life, not just to take your money and ruin your hair. We refuse lightening services all the time purely because we know you will regret it if your hair cannot cope. If you have a long journey to blonde, we will ensure that your “in between” colours are applied beautifully so that you can still feel attractive.
DO YOU GUARANTEE YOUR WORK?
Absolutely we do! Sometimes it can be nerve racking being honest with your stylist, but please know that our team love what they do and if you aren’t happy they aren’t happy. Every single stylist we have chosen to work at our Studio does this job for the love of it. We will 100% guarantee any colour that was agreed upon during the consultation. Sometimes colours don’t take, or toners rinse out for various reasons that are specific to your hair, or your hair has gone brassy after a few washes- all of these things can be rectified easily and we want to know about it. Remember we are working with hair, chemicals and many external factors that can influence colour. Not 100% of every time can we say that a colour will turn out the way we want it to and we may need to make a few changes to your formula. No client should feel the need to go home disappointed and be too shy to say something, we will always accept your feedback with gratitude and appreciation that you give us the opportunity to re book you. We ask that if you have any issues to let us know within two weeks. Also if you booked in with a goal colour of blonde and your stylist has only committed to only be able to achieve an orange blonde for example due to hair safety then this is not classed as a fault. You will be given the option to proceed on the day or cancel your booking if you prefer to stay your current colour. Please discuss with your stylist at the time of consultation any home haircare products that you use. Any products containing sulphates and silicones will void your hair colour warranty once we have finished your service as they will simply wash out your hair colour in a short amount of time or prevent any colour from being penetrated. We will make some suggestions on how best to maintain your colour at home.
I WOULD LIKE EXTENSIONS AND MY HAIR COLOURED, CAN YOU DO IT TOGETHER?
We would need to book these services separately due to the fact that the hair swells after a colour service and your extensions would not be secure. We would also need to match your extensions colour so it is best to book extensions one week after your colour.
DO I NEED TO CONFIRM MY BOOKING?
Yes all bookings need to be confirmed the day prior to your service. A text message will be sent out making it easy to respond with a Y. Alternatively you can call 02 9523 7382 to confirm or reschedule. Any bookings that are left unconfirmed will have our reception call to remind you. If we do not manage to get a hold of you after several attempts we will re offer this booking to our wait list clients. As you can imagine our booking times are far longer due to the nature of our work and our stylists can fit a limited amount of clients in one day hence why we always have long wait lists. Any client that continuously does not show up for bookings without any correspondence may be asked to pre pay for future services.
WHICH STYLIST SHOULD I BOOK FOR?
All of our team have been trained by the best and are all very capable of any service, however there is more to a stylist than just their work. Once you find the right stylist it’s a beautiful friendship. All our team have their unique personalities, some bright and bubbly, cheeky, quirky, shy, easy going and sweet. If you have a preference for a personality type then let us know at the time of booking. If you met with a team member and you didn’t quite “click’-next time we can book you with someone else. No hard feelings!
HOW MUCH NOTICE TO I NEED TO GIVE FOR A BOOKING REQUEST?
Our salon is very structured in order to complete every service to standard, so it is very rare that we have any availability for walk in clients. Mid week there is usually a two week wait, Saturday’s and evenings are usually 1-2 months. After your first visit we will offer you the opportunity to book in advance so that you will not have to wait in the future for a booking. We do have a wait list and we will always call you if you need an urgent booking.
WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
We are located on Croydon Street Cronulla, the best place to park is the top two levels of the council multi storey carpark as there is 4 hour timed parking. Lower levels only have two hours so you may find yourself vulnerable to parking inspectors. This carpark is only a few doors down from our store on the same side.
